More than 16,429 people have cast their ballots already in the congressional race between Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, and Republican Matt Doheny.
This figure doesn't include absentees cast in Saratoga County, which is the second-biggest in the congressional district. Elections officials there didn't call me back.
It also doesn't include ballots that were postmarked by today. They can be received until Nov. 19.
In Jefferson County, officials have already received more absentee ballots (2,700) than they counted in 2008 (2,100). St. Lawrence County also appears poised to surpass its 2010 numbers.
And voters in the 21st Congressional District have cast many more ballots than they did in 2010, though that shouldn't be a surprise given the ebb and flow of presidential and non-presidential years.
