SYRACUSE — A Lewis County native died Tuesday following a fight with his boyfriend, who was charged with manslaughter in the incident.
Dale C. Schantz, 36, formerly of Naumburg, was found late Tuesday at his Sedgwick residence in cardiac arrest, and he was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the Syracuse Post Standard.
His boyfriend, David Davis, 30, who left the scene following the alleged fight, was charged with second-degree manslaughter after police got witness accounts of the alleged fight and a preliminary autopsy report ruled the death a homicide, the newspaper reported. Police said the altercation contributed to the death.
Mr. Schantz, the son of Thomas and Catherine Roy Schantz, Naumburg, was a graduate of Beaver River Central School, Beaver Falls. He was currently employed as a floor specialist at Lowe’s Home Improvement Store.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Sundquist Funeral Home, Lowville.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Naumburg Union Cemetery.
