WATERTOWN — David W. Smith, 51, and Katherine A. Mack, 68, both of 30230 Route 3, Black River, were charged by Watertown city police with petit larceny on Sunday after allegedly stealing copper pipes and fittings from Purcell Construction’s construction site at the Woolworth Building, 11 Public Square.

Police said Mr. Smith entered the building through the door on the north side and removed five copper pipes and a box containing numerous copper fittings. They were placed in the back seat of a grey Chrysler Sebring operated by Ms. Mack, police said.

The suspects are to appear in City Court.
