After nearly two weeks of construction, ALDI grocery store, 1101 Park St., will reopen its newly renovated and environmentally-friendly store to customers Saturday.

The new building will have higher ceilings, improved lighting, and environmentally-friendly appliances, such energy-saving refrigeration.

Aaron Sumida, vice president, ALDI Tully Division, said the new store will be more customer-friendly as well as cut down on energy usage.

“Since the Ogdensburg store has been open for 15 years, ALDI is giving the store a fresh look while retaining the store’s simple, easy-to-navigate shopping experience,” Mr. Sumida said Monday.

The store’s updated look will be unveiled at its grand opening ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday.

ALDI prides itself on being an alternative grocery store, offering “high quality grocery items at incredibly low prices,” by eliminating overhead costs by offering a cart rental system, a small store footprint, open carton displays and encouraging of customers to bring their own shopping bags, according to a news release from ALDI.

In St. Lawrence County, ALDI also has store locations in Massena and Potsdam.

The Ogdensburg location is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
