Maples 10U take strong second at Malone Tournament

Following a first place finish in their own Jim Pinkerton Memorial Tournament the Ogdensburg Maoles 10U Baseball team placed a strong second in the Malone Tournament over the weekend.

“It was a great learning experience for this group heading into the Platsburgh Baseball Classic this weekend,” said Ogdensburg Maples Coach Jon Free.

Maples 10 - Massena 3: Corbin Durham, Tristan Lovely and Braeden Free combined to strike out 14 and the three also combined for 9 hits to give the Maples two-way leadership.

Maples 21 Platsburgh 1: Every Maples player recorded a hit and first-year players Hugh Colburn, Aaron Ellis and Adam Kelton played well in the field.

Maples 11 Massena 7: The Maples came back from an early three-run deficit led by Braeden Free (triple double single), Kelson Hooper (double, single) and Corbin Durham (3 singles) to secure a trip to the finals.

Cumberland Head 8 Maples 7 - In an 8-inning battle Zach Jackson came through with a bases clearing triple to secure the 10U Malone Championship. The Maples received outstanding pitching from Free, Durham, Lovely and Hooper who combined for 17 strikeouts..
