CANTON - Ogdensburg’s Peyton Lalone exploded for four goals and passed out one assist leading the FC Freeze U18 boys soccer team to a 6-4 victory over the previously unbeaten Upstate United SC Wolfpack (6-1) on Thursday night in the NNYYSL action at the SLU campus.
While Lalone was strong with finishes into the back of the net, he was receiving crosses and lead through passes from Lisbon’s Adam Kelley (two assists), Parishiville-Hopkington’s Wyatt Snell (one assist) and Madrid-Waddington’s Tyler Robinson (one assist). Potsdam’s Pat Normindin found the back of the net from a Lalone cross while the Upstate United SC Wolfpack put one into their own net on a clearing attempt to round out the scoring.
Lisbon’s Nick Spooner was busy collecting 14 saves in the crease with Malone’s Pat Bylow, Potsdam’s Dave Caamano and Canton’s Keagan Sovay anchoring the back line play.
The locals, now 5-2, return to action next Thursday night visiting the Thousand Island Soccer Club at Lafargville for a 6:30 p.m start before a playoff tournament on Friday at Indian River.
An U18 girls soccer game played on Thursday saw Parishville-Hopkinton blank St. Lawrence Central 3-0 anchored by an outstanding performance by the defensive backfield of Cassara Cole, Victoria Collins, Katy Colbert and Kelsey Zenger. Nicole White scored two goals and Mattie Tembler delivered a goal and assist to lead the offense. Olivia Collins passed out an assist to the support of goaltender Kelsey Putman and Amanda Mason, who combined to make four saves.
In a North Country Women’s Summer Soccer matchup staged on Thursday, North Country Collision of Potsdam blanked Massena 3-0.
Amanda Sergi, Lindsay LaSala and Megan Stevenson broke through for the goals in the winning effort. Maggie Cook logged a solo assist while Jenny Tardelli handled the 10 shots she faced in backstopping the shutout.
