POTSDAM - Twenty-four golfers ages 8-18 competed on Monday morning at the inaugural event of the North Country Junior Golf Tour at the Potsdam Town and Country Club. Devin Delisle was victorious in the 16-18 division behind a round of 77, while Tanner Courcelle earned the win in the 13-15 division with an 85.
Adam Szlamczynski took the 12-and-younger division with a round of 45 on the back nine.
Golfers battled rainy and windy conditions throughout the day, but Delisle separated himself from the pack in his division with a back nine round of even par 36 that included a birdie on the par-5 16th. Courcelle also used an impressive back nine to clinch his victory, shooting 43 to hold off Danny Christy by four strokes in the 13-player field.
Szlamczynski’s round of 45 in the 12-and-younger division was good for a four-stroke win ahead of Bobby Wells, while John Mahoney was six back with a 51.
Szlamczynski earned pars on both par-3’s on the back nine, holes 11 and 14, to aid his victory in the seven-player group.
The North Country Junior Golf Tour’s next stop will be on Tuesday, July 15 as players tee it up at the Malone Golf Club.
