CANTON - It looks like absentee ballots won’t matter in the 21st Congressional District where Elise M. Stefanik is building up impressive numbers in the early vote totals.

Ms. Stefanik has a 1,300 vote lead even before most of the votes have been counted on the eastern side of the district, where she was expected to run up her numbers.

Mr. Donehy is struggling in his home county of Jefferson, leading by just a 605-540 margin, and being trounced 721-221 by Ms. Stefanik in neighboring Lewis County.

Early vote totals show Ms. Stefanik by nearly two to one margns in Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties, and the Willsboro candidate has a 1,274-526 advantage in Fulton County.

Current vote total:

Stefanik: 2,842

Doheny: 1,492
