Downtown Carthage was bustling the week of June 3, 1912, hosting the joint Jefferson-St. Lawrence Bi-County Firemen’s Convention and Industrial Exposition. Each day featured scheduled activities and a themed parade. Saturday’s automobile parade drew 4,000 spectators who came out to view 45 cars valued at a total of $125,000. The photo is reprinted with permission of Arcadia Publishing from the book ‘Images of America: Around Carthage and West Carthage’ by Lynn M. Thornton.
