CANTON — More than 1,800 students have enrolled for the summer semester at SUNY Canton, topping the previous enrollment record.

“We have 1,808 students enrolled in our classes so far,” Molly A. Mott, SUNY Canton dean of academic support services and instructional technologies, said in a news release. “This breaks our 2012 record of 1,796 students.”

The summer session begins June 2. Many courses are accessible online.

Ms. Mott attributed the rising number of students to a variety of elective courses in addition to traditional core courses such as English and history. Electives include the Adirondack Experience, a one-week course that allows students to learn digital photography while paddling and hiking through the Adirondack Mountains.

To register or to view the entire course listing, visit the college’s website at www.canton.edu/courses/summer.html.
