WATERTOWN A Watertown woman was sentenced Thursday in Jefferson County Court to up to 8½ years in state prison for violating terms of her Drug Court contract.
Michaele J. Reid, 26, whose last known address was 194 Cedar St., was sentenced after pleading guilty April 3 to second-degree bail jumping and admitting that she violated terms of Drug Court, a substance abuse rehabilitation program designed to serve as an alternative to incarceration.
She was referred to the program in May 2013 after pleading guilty to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. She had been charged in a grand jury indictment handed up in April 2013 with selling cocaine twice on the same day in late March 2013. She admitted violating conditions of the program by absconding from its supervision, having last reported to the program in November.
She was sentenced to 5½ years in prison, followed by an additional two years of supervision upon her release, for the drug sale conviction. She was also sentenced to a consecutive term of 1½ to 3 years in prison for the bail jumping count. Had she successfully completed Drug Court, she faced a sentence of five years probation.
