CLAYTON — Kylee Martin went 5-for-6, including two doubles, and drove in three runs as Sandy Creek downed Thousand Islands, 18-2, on Monday in a “C” Division game in Frontier League softball.

Gabriella Guarasce drove in two runs on three hits, and Brittany Valley ripped a three-run double for the Comets (3-0).

Heather Robinson slapped an RBI double for the Vikings (0-1).

BEAVER RIVER 13, SOUTH LEWIS 8 (8)

Taylor Kieffer singled three times and drove in four runs and Taylor Buell collected three singles and knocked in a pair of runs as the Beavers beat the Falcons in eight innings in a “C” Division game at South Lewis.

Emma Puddington singled in two runs, including the go-ahead run in a five-run eighth inning for Beaver River (1-1, 1-1). Jessica Haig hit a home run for South Lewis (0-1).

WATERTOWN 16, CARTHAGE 11

Shytarra Lemon went 3-for-3, including a double, and drove in three runs and scored three times to pace the Cyclones past the Comets in an “A” Division game in the first game of the season for both teams.

Tara Blair and Madelene Hashagen each singled twice and drove in a pair of runs for Watertown (1-0) and Maggie Valentine collected two singles.

Whitney Grover singled twice and knocked in two runs for Carthage (0-1).

COPENHAGEN 4, LYME 3

Brooke Spaulding struck out 11 in a complete-game effort as the Golden Knights edged the Indians in the season opener for both teams in a “D” Division game in Chaumont.

Maci Spaulding and Brianna Muncy each singled twice to help pace Copenhagen (0-1). Taylor Brown and Meghan Goutremont each singled twice for the Indians (0-1).

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 14, SALMON RIVER 0

Emily O’Connor struck out 14 and carried a perfect game into the sixth as the Panthers topped the Shamrocks in a season-opening Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game at Fort Covington.

O’Connor ended up with a two-hit shutout, and Sienna Kenney slashed a two-run triple for Brushton-Moira (1-0).

BASEBALL

WATERTOWN 6, CARTHAGE 3

Jarrod Bellinger struck out nine in five innings to earn the win as the Cyclones won their Frontier league opener over the Comets in an “A” Division game in Watertown.

Steven Hatchell tripled, singled and drove in a run for Watertown (3-2, 1-0), Joe Freda tripled in a pair of runs and Christian Jorden singled twice and knocked in a run. Ryan Pete singled three times for Carthage (1-4, 0-3).

THOUSAND ISLANDS 7, SANDY CREEK 2

Winner Austin Bach tossed a complete-game three-hitter, striking out nine and singled twice to propel the Vikings in their season opener in a “C” Division game in Clayton.

Sam Ada singled twice and drove in three runs for Thousand Islands (1-0). Sandy Creek fell to 1-3.

COPENHAGEN 14, LYME 3

James Uhlinger and Antonio Figueroa each went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs as the Golden Knights pulled away late to beat the Indians a “D” Division season opener in Chaumont.

Brandon Moser gave up three runs and five hits in a complete-game effort for Copenhagen (1-0). Caden Sanford slapped a two-run single for Lyme (0-1).

SOUTH LEWIS 10, BEAVER RIVER 3

Jason Martin and Tristen Bauer combined on a two-hitter and Lucas Kelly homered, doubled, singled and drove in a run as the Falcons downed the Beavers in a “C” Division game in Turin.

Jake Vanbeber (two RBI) and Brett Farr each singled three times for South Lewis (2-0). Naythan Cobb doubled in a run against Beaver River (1-1).

NEW YORK MILLS 3, HEUVELTON 0

Perry Bennero struck out 14 in a complete-game shutout as the Marauders (3-1) blanked the Bulldogs in a nonleague game at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.

Michael Martin struck out eight for Heuvelton (0-1).

BOYS LACROSSE

IHC 11, SOUTH JEFFERSON 8

Pat Gefell tallied five goals and two assists as the Cavaliers beat the Spartans in a crossover game at Adams.

Matt Guyette supplied two goals and four assists for Immaculate Heart Central (2-2, 2-1). Benner Geurtsen, Caleb Alford and Phil Isberner each scored twice for South Jefferson (2-5, 1-3).

MARCELLUS 16, GENERAL BROWN 7

Harrison Cox scored four goals and assisted on two others to pace the Mustangs (5-2) to a nonleague winy at Marcellus.

Jake Purvis scored three goals to lead the Lions (4-3).
