SANDY CREEK — Brad Clark’s RBI single drove in Zach Akey in the sixth inning as the Sandy Creek baseball team edged General Brown, 1-0, in a Frontier League crossover game on Friday afternoon.

Reis Harding slapped a pair of singles, and Akey and Jarrod Williams combined to toss a one-hitter for the Comets (1-2).

Matt Corey struck out eight and gave up only four hits for the Lions (0-1).

GIRLS LACROSSE

CARTHAGE 17, CENTRAL SQUARE 3

Mackenzie Kidder scored four goals and assisted on two others to pace the Comets to victory in the opening round of the Central Square Tournament.

Carly Sullivan contributed three goals and two assists, and Gabriella Park scored three goals for Carthage (4-2), which will face Auburn, a 13-12 winner over Homer, at 1 p.m. today in the title game at the same site.

Braelie Kempney chipped in a pair of goals for the Comets against the Red Hawks (0-5).

TRACK AND FIELD

WARRIORS SET SCHOOL MARK

The Indian River boys track and field team set a school record in the 6,400-meter relay during the Cicero-North Syracuse Relays in Cicero.

In the 400 hurdles, Felix Garcia and Oscar Griffith finished third and 16th, respectively, to place fifth overall.

Jakese Crockett, Yson Hogan, Deondre Greer and Tyler Sloley were sixth in the 400 relay for Indian River.

In girls competition, Asia Moses and Doreen Adjei finished sixth in the discus relay for the Warriors.
