BROWNVILLE Harvey L. and Jacqueline A. Chapman, 19699 Route 12F, Paddy Hill, observed their 60th wedding anniversary Friday. The couple celebrated with a casino trip and family dinner.
Mr. Chapman, son of the late Harold and Genevieve Chapman, married Jacqueline A. Bordell, daughter of the late George and Lula Bordell, on April 11, 1954, at Brownville United Methodist Church. Honor attendants were Ann Gunn, Brownville, and the late Robert Chapman, brother of the groom.
Mr. Chapman graduated in 1951 from Brownville-Glen Park Central School. He entered the Navy that year and served as a radio man for four years. He retired from James River Corp. (now Fibermark D.S.I.).
Mr. Chapman is a life member and past commander of Brownville American Legion Post 588, a member of Busy BGs, enjoys gardening and daily walks and is an avid New York Yankees fan.
Mrs. Chapman graduated in 1953 from Brownville-Glen Park Central School and retired from James River Corp. She is a member of Brownville American Legion and Busy BGs, and enjoys gardening, doing crossword puzzles and decorating and remodeling their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapman enjoy visits and outings with family members.
Their home on Paddy Hill, purchased in the 1950s, was previously a one-room schoolhouse Mr. Chapman attended in his youth.
The couple has a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Rod. D. Hartman, Brownville, and one grandson. A daughter, Michele Chapman, died June 14, 2005.
