POTSDAM - Following a split with Rensselaer, the Clarkson University baseball team will travel to battle the Vassar College Brewers in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.

Action will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.

The Golden Knights moved to 5-5 (1-1 Liberty League) after splitting with RPI on Wednesday afternoon. Clarkson won game one 5-2 in eight innings before falling 4-1 in seven innings in game two.

Sophomore Greg Jasek (Chittenango, NY) pitched all eight innings in game one, allowing seven hits but only one earned run. He struck out nine Engineers to pick up his first win of the season. Junior Nolan Driscoll (Troy, NY) provided the offense in extra innings, clearing the bases with a double to left center to put the Knights ahead 5-2 in the top of the eighth inning.

Clarkson struggled to get the bats going in the nightcap, scoring only one run for senior pitcher Pete Roma (Endicott, NY). RPI scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning, capitalizing on an error and some timely hitting to pick up the victory.

Junior John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) leads the Knights with a .324 batting average. He has knocked in five runs and started every game for Clarkson this season. Senior Dan Lenney (Clifton Park, NY) has 10 hits on the season, five of which have gone for extra bases. His seven RBIs are second on the team and he is hitting .278 on the year.

Freshman Chris Miller (Ballston Lake, NY) has started six games, hitting .313 and drawing a team-high five walks. Jasek leads the team with eight RBIs, and has one of four home runs hit by Clarkson this season.

Senior Jarrod Mattingly (Philadelphia, NY) has been impressive on the mound thus far, posting a 2-0 record with a 3.68 ERA. He pitched a full nine innings his last time out, allowing just one run as Clarkson defeated Hope College 5-1 in Florida in mid-March.

The Brewers enter the weekend with a record of 4-3 (1-0) and are coming off a 9-3 win over Skidmore College in their Liberty League opener. Brett Zaiski leads Vassar with a .583 average, tallying 14 hits in seven games including seven for extra bases. The Brewers weakness has been pitching, with a team ERA of 6.00. They have allowed 65 hits in 57 innings pitched and have been outscored by opponents 47-41 on the year. Fielding has been another issue, as they have committed 14 errors in seven games so far this season. Clarkson has committed two fewer errors in three more games.
