MASSENA – Massena Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will host a Book Fair for the hospital friends and family on Monday and Tuesday.
The Book Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Community Education Room, on the lower level of the hospital. The Book Fair is open to the community and offers great gift ideas for the holidays.
The hospital auxiliary offers this book fair in conjunction with Imagination Books, Ltd. They offer books with a savings up to 70 percent off retail. A percentage of the book sale is then donated to the auxiliary. The auxiliary offers fund-raisers to help purchase equipment for the hospital.
Books Are Fun accepts major credit cards, debit cards, checks along with cash. They offer novels, cook books, craft books, childrens books and games and many more to choose from.
Over the years, the hospital auxiliary has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to the hospital for medical equipment. The auxiliary raises money to buy equipment, but additionally aid in many volunteer efforts, such as the Gift Shop, the Information Desk, Patient Juice Cart, Scholarships, Whale Program, Organ Donation, teddy bears for patients, comfort pillows for patients, baking for sales and community health fairs and seminars.
Over 200 auxiliary members have given of themselves countless hours to help others and the hospital. Over the last few years, the auxiliary gave the hospital Foundation $10,000 annually and the hospital $5,000 to the Telethon toward a Bone Densitometer and $13,335 for a Tran venous Pacemaker- Medronic and a Doerges Difficult Airway Blade for C Mac, both life-saving pieces of equipment. Additionally, the Auxiliary donated to purchase two Verscare Hospital Beds and a vital signs monitor.
Anyone interested in offering a few hours of volunteer time can join the hospital auxiliary at anytime. The auxiliary has projects continuously throughout the year, and services within the hospital.
