POTSDAM — Hannah Calvelli and Carly VanTassel scored three goals apiece to lead St. Lawrence University past SUNY Potsdam, 12-7, in a nonconference women’s lacrosse game on Thursday.

Addie Cunningham posted 12 saves for the Saints (2-3), who used a 6-1 run midway through the second half to pull away.

Abigail Horan and Caroline Bailey each scored twice for St. Lawrence. Bailey Weigel led the Bears (1-2) with two goals and an assist.

CLARKSON 17, ST. JOSEPH’S, CONN. 0

Abby Doyle and Paige Fayette scored three goals apiece as the Golden Knights routed the BlueJays (0-2) in a nonleague game at West Palm Beach, Fla.

Kara DiNatale made four saves and Dani Tani stopped a pair of shots for Clarkson (3-3), which posted its first shutout in 25 seasons.

Clarkson’s next game is next Friday at Union to open Liberty League play.

SOFTBALL

CLARKSON LOSES TWO

Clarkson catcher Morgan Tennyson doubled, scored, and stole a base to provide the few highlights for the Golden Knights in their back-to-back losses in Fort Myers, Fla.

Emily Kolenda gave up two hits and struck out 13 to claim an 8-1 win for SUNY Brockport (8-3) in game one. Clarkson then lost to the University of New England, 16-2, in five innings.

Clarkson (0-10) will finish its early-season Florida trip today with games against Alfred State and Wisconsin-Platteville.
