The recent addition of an Oneida County farm easement to the Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust brings the total of permanently protected working farmland to 15,000 acres.

Eugene and Rita Weibel, according to a trust press release, wanted to protect their 200-acre Lee Center property from gradual development.

The trust is a nonprofit regional organization that works with private landowners to protect and foster responsible stewardship practices of working forest, farm, recreation and wild lands within the Tug Hill region. A conservation easement is a voluntary agreement between the landowner and the trust that permanently protects land resources from inappropriate development by limiting future activities on the property.
