Grant C. Madill Elementary School students are putting on a play for the community at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the school’s cafeteria.

The play, “The Best Little Theater in Town,” focuses on the efforts to save a community theater when a shady accountant – James P. Pennypacker – announces it will have to close for financial reasons.

The show features a bit of action-adventure with a lot of drama and comedy.

Madill Music Teacher Angela M. Dwyer said the play is “featuring students from fourth, fifth and sixth grades here at Madill Elementary School.”

Ms. Dwyer said the show has seen students working hard at mastering the mechanics of acting and singing.

“There’s excitement,” she said. “The kids like it because there’s this whole thing where they’re getting chased by the cops.”

Ms. Dwyer, who is accompanying the performance on the piano, said students who wanted solos or speaking parts auditioned for their roles while members of the choir were able to sign up.

In speaking roles are Jordyn Prosser, Katie Weber, Hailey Weber, Anton Skamperle, Cassidy DeGraw, Dakota Woods, Reagan Kelly, Makayla Lovely, Gage Austin, Eli Bullock, Eve House, Elizabeth Lemke, Ramie Blackmer, Owen Warchol and Gannon Kelly.

Members of the theater gang include Madison Bailey, Elexis Beaulieu, Tyler Berridge, Aliya Best, Jada Bishop-Duford, Alexia Brouse, Serena Copeland, Kaylee Gilbert, Alyxandra Jenner, JD King, Jillian LeBel, Aubrey Love, Megan Reed, Darian Snyder, Jarrett Swinyer and Collin Towne.

Ms. Dwyer said the show is free and open to the public and encouraged people to come support the students.
