LOWVILLE From Dec. 1 to Jan. 27, Peter F. Smith, 18, of Lowville, made more than 30 calls or visits to the emergency room, ambulance squad and fire department that turned out to be false, according to village police.
Police said Mr. Smith made the calls to the Lewis County General Hospital emergency room, Lewis County Search and Rescue ambulance service, Lowville Fire Department, Lewis County 911 center and Lowville Police Department.
After an investigation, police determined the reports to be fraudulent.
He was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Monday, charged with falsely reporting an incident and arraigned in Village Court. He was sent to the Lewis County jail on $500 bail. Police said more charges are pending.
