A lake-effect snow advisory was issued for Lewis County from midnight today until 1 p.m. Tuesday, with the National Weather Service predicting more than a foot of snow could fall.

The snow is forecast to hit primarily southern Lewis County and Lowville, with the greatest amounts on the Tug Hill Plateau. By Monday morning, 2 to 4 inches could fall, with an additional 3 to 5 inches falling during the day Monday. With an additional 2 to 3 inches possible Monday night and 2 more inches Tuesday, the weather service said, 7 to 13 inches are forecast.

The weather service warns that snow-covered roads and visibility reduced to a half mile could make travel hazardous at times.
