DANBURY — In his team debut, Phil Grainger scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Watertown Privateers to a 4-3 victory over the Danbury Whalers in a Federal Hockey League game Thursday night at Danbury Ice Arena.

The Privateers improved to 12-21 and snapped a nine-game losing streak.

Seconds after pulling its goalie for an extra attacker, David Lun scored for Danbury (23-8) to tie the game at three goals apiece with just over a minute to play in regulation.

Dane Erickson and Beni Berisha each scored early in the third period to give the Privateers a 3-2 lead.

Grainger also provided an assist, while Erickson and Britt Ouellette each finished with a goal and two assists for Watertown.
