LOWVILLE The fifth annual Dialysis Bowl-A-Thon, which concluded its second day of fundraising Saturday, raised $1,830.50 to benefit Lewis County General Hospitals new dialysis center.
This years funds pushed the total raised over five years to more than $13,000, despite a lower bowler turnout 134 people over two consecutive Saturdays, said chair member and former Lewis General nurse Colleen West.
The dialysis wing is slated to open March 19, she said, with an open house to be held the day before.
This was likely the last year of the bowling tournament, which also included a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. The Lewis County Hospital Foundation has raised about $90,000 in total toward the $1.9 million dialysis project.
It has been very successful, Ms. West said of the Bowl-A-Thon. Were very pleased that we were able to bring a dialysis to the local people so they dont have to do the traveling in the wintertime.
