Republican attorney Kathy L. Quencer, Brownville, will announce her candidacy for Jefferson County Family Court judge at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Italian-American Civic Association, 192 Bellew Ave. Her announcement is open to the public.

Ms. Quencer, 43, practices family and matrimonial law as a partner with Proven & Quencer, Watertown. A lifelong resident of the county and a graduate of General Brown High School, Dexter, she is serving her second term as Brownville town justice.

She serves as Jefferson County Bar Association secretary, previously serving terms as president and vice president, and has served on numerous bar association committees, including the local and Fifth Judicial District’s grievance committee. She is also the liaison between the county’s Magistrates Association and the county’s Youth Court, of which she was an early member.

She is an adjunct faculty member of Jefferson Community College’s paralegal program, a town of Brownville Lions Club volunteer, a Future Business Leaders of America adviser and a mock trial facilitator for local schools.
