CAPE VINCENT—Three emaciated dogs were taken by the Jefferson County Dog Control on Wednesday night after a Cape Vincent man was accused of not feeding them.

John R. McCracken, 27, of 31744 Burnt Rock Road, was charged at his residence with three counts of torture/injure/not feeding an animal. Police said that when they arrived, the three dogs were extremely skinny, malnourished and kept in unsanitary conditions.

According to state police, the dogs were able to escape by chewing through a wall in the mudroom and ran out, where they were spotted by the neighbor.

Mr. McCracken was charged at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and issued an appearance ticket for Town Court.
