LISBON Scott Wight scored 14 points, including the game-winning basket at the buzzer, to help lift the Canton boys basketball team to a 60-58 victory over Salmon River during the first round of the James Darcy Memorial Tournament on Monday.
Louden Porter tied the game with 42 seconds remaining and finished with 17 points, and Evan LaPoint chipped in with 15 points for Canton (4-6 overall), which will play Lisbon in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. today.
Antoine Domino generated 20 points, and Karson Tarbell scored 10 points for Salmon River (3-7).
LISBON 64, HAMMOND 34
Jimmy Robinson poured in 24 points during the Golden Knights first-round victory of the James Darcy Memorial Tournament in Lisbon.
The matchup also counted as a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game.
Jake Putney produced 15 points for Lisbon (11-1, 9-0).
Brock Tulley scored 12 points, and Payton Frisina added 10 points for Hammond (4-8, 3-7).
TUPPER LAKE 62, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 31
Cody LaPierre provided 16 points as the Lumberjacks secured a Northern Athletic Conference East Division victory at Norwood.
Mitch Keniston added 14 points for Tupper Lake (9-5, 7-3).
Ian St. Andrews scored nine points for the Flyers (3-9, 2-8).
MALONE 48, CANTON 42
Janelle Heden produced 18 points to help fuel the Huskies to a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division victory at Malone.
Rachel Lamica added 13 points for Malone (12-1, 10-0).
Kali Frank scored 12 points for Canton (10-3, 7-2).
TUPPER LAKE 42, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 23
Lindsay Moroun generated 16 points to lead the Lumberjacks to an NAC East Division victory at Tupper Lake.
Katie Zurek tallied 12 points, and Lizzie Zurek added eight rebounds and five assists for Tupper Lake (3-8, 2-6).
Norwood-Norfolk is 2-8, 2-7.
IHC 6, ONTARIO BAY 1
Jared Pignone and Jordan Trudeau each scored a goal and assisted on two others to pace the Cavaliers to a nonleague victory at Watertown Municipal Arena.
Goalie Grant Chamberlain made 18 saves for IHC, which improved to 7-5.
Sean Shepard tallied a goal and an assist for the Cavaliers ,and Jake Renzi registered three assists. Dan Grant also scored a goal for IHC.
Edward Sheats finished with 30 saves for the Storm (0-13).
MASSENA 6, SALMON RIVER 2
Patrick Manning completed a hat trick to guide the Red Raiders to victory during a Northern Athletic Conference Division I game at Fort Covington.
Tyler Young and Ben Sprague each provided a goal and an assist, and Connor Paquin made 19 saves Massena (10-4, 8-0).
Sean David supplied one goal and one assist, and Nate Smoke also scored for Salmon River (5-6-2, 3-3-1), which recorded both goals in the first four minutes.
CANTON 3, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 2
Tanner Sanderson scored twice to help power the Golden Bears to an interdivision victory at the Canton Pavilion.
Cody Moore contributed two assists, and Zach James also scored. Jake Facey made 24 saves for Canton (5-6-1, 3-2-1).
Coby Munson and Zeb Brown scored, and Kyler MacIntire made 24 saves for Norwood-Norfolk (8-3, 6-3).
MALONE 4, ISLANDERS 2
Kyler Head netted a pair of goals as the Huskies claimed a Northern Athletic Conference Division II game at the Malone Civic Center.
Bailey Conklin contributed one goal and two assists, and Jake Henning added a goal and an assist. Goalie Joey Brown turned aside 18 shots for Malone (5-8-1, 4-6-1).
For the Islanders, Cam Morgan and Garrett Denny scored, and Jordan VanBrocklin recorded an assist. Noah Crandall made 21 saves for the Islanders (2-7-1, 1-6-1).
ST. LAWRENCE 3, SARANAC LAKE 1
Kody Kocsis finished with two goals as the host Larries registered a nonleague victory at the Tri-Town Arena.
Lukas Arquiett accounted for one goal and one assist, and Drew Rose tallied two assists. Goalie Nate Burnett stopped 30 shots for St. Lawrence Central (8-5).
Brad Shumway scored, and Blake Darrah made 32 saves for Saranac Lake (4-9-1).
