MACOMB - The cause of a fire that destroyed a seasonal home at 458 Bishop Road Friday night is still unknown.

Fire investigators have ruled out electrical and natural causes, but the investigation is still ongoing, Morristown Fire Chief Kevin J. Crosby said Monday.

“We’re just waiting on some tests to come back,” Mr. Crosby said. “It should take three to four weeks.”

The fire happened shortly before 6:30 p.m.

It took several hours and four departments – Morristown, Brier Hill, Heuvelton, and Gouverneur – to extinguish the blaze. The fire was put out at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The house was a total loss. Wall openings extending from the foundation to the roof structure allowed the fire to spread quickly, Mr. Crosby said.

No one was injured or inside the home at the time.

Mr. Crosby said officials were able to contact the owner, Zef Selco, who is currently out of the country.
