A Watertown man was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful fleeing a police officer after an alleged September incident in Thompson Park.

Marshall W. VanSchepen, 23, of 241 Winslow St., Apt. 2A, was arrested at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building at 3:30 p.m. on the two charges. According to police, he attempted to flee an officer while driving in excess of 25 mph over the 30 mph speed limit.

Mr. VanSchepen originally was arrested Sept. 8 on charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, making an improper right turn, failure to keep right and not wearing a seat belt.

He was released to military custody and is to answer the charges in City Court.
