The Northern New York Community Foundation is accepting applications for the 2014 Jefferson Leadership Institute scholarship for high school juniors who reside and attend school in Jefferson County.
Information about the scholarship will be distributed in schools this week, according to Community Foundation Coordinator of Partnerships April L. Fallon.
According to a foundation news release, the scholarship consists of a minimum $1,000 in financial assistance for postsecondary education and a one-year mentorship by alumni of the JLI. Last years JLI class created the scholarship in partnership with the foundation to encourage civic engagement among youth in Jefferson County.
JLI alumni will announce in May at least three scholarship winners. Applications are due April 1, and can be found on the foundations website, www.nnycf.org.
