CLAYTON — As the new comptroller, Theresa E. Tornatore brings 30 years of experience to the Antique Boat Museum’s staff.

Ms. Tornatore replaces former chief financial officer Dale E. Corsa, who served the museum, 750 Mary St., for about seven years.

“It’s unfortunate to lose someone as great as Dale, but we are hopeful Theresa will lead us in a good direction,” said Michael J. Folsom, director of marketing and communications. “So far, it has been an easy transition and she is proving to be a great addition to our team.”

Ms. Tornatore began working at the museum Dec. 2 and immediately started work on the museum’s 2014 budget and tax season. Her job duties include management of the museum’s financial programs and supervision of accounts payable, revenue, billing, monthly financial reports, annual budget, year-end closeout and audit, as well as financial oversight of all capital projects. In addition, the position involves the role of human resource management, along with management of payroll and reporting.

Ms. Tornatore studied finance at SUNY Geneseo. Since then, she has worked for nonprofit organizations for nearly 18 years.

“I’ve mostly worked in health care nonprofits, and recently I was working in Chicago for a company that tries to collect unpaid student loans,” Ms. Tornatore said. “I’ve always enjoyed working in nonprofits because they have a mission.”

The museum’s dedication to education was one of the reasons she was attracted to work for it.

“I’m not a boater, I’m an accountant, but it will be nice to learn as much as possible here,” Ms. Tornatore said.
