GOUVERNEUR — A Pennsylvania man is being accused of robbing a man at knifepoint Wednesday afternoon in Gouverneur.

Gouverneur Village Police arrested Christopher J. Klement, 19, of Brodheadsville, Pa., and charged him with first-degree robbery, a class B violent felony, and second-degree menacing and petit larceny, both misdemeanors.

Police allege that at 12:24 p.m., behind the NY Pizza restaurant on Service Street in the village, Mr. Klement reached through the opened car window of Brian A. Simmons, 34, and his wife, Amber L., 32, of 1121 Route 11, and grabbed five to seven strips of Suboxone from Mr. Simmons and fled.

Suboxone is a prescription that is used for treatment of opioid dependence.

Mr. Klement then allegedly pulled a knife and threatened to stab Mr. Simmons when he chased him, causing Mr. Simmons to back off and allowing Mr. Klement to get away, police said.

Police located Mr. Klement at 42 Park St. He was arraigned by Fowler Town Judge Paul M. Lamson and was taken to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, where he is being held without bail.

He is scheduled to return to that court at a later date.
