CANTON — The Norfolk woman accused of scamming a priest and members of his parish out of more than $300,000 had her bail reduced Wednesday by a St. Lawrence County judge, but her attorney said she likely will remain jailed while awaiting trial.

Judge Jerome J. Richards reduced the bail of Bobbie Jo Zeller, 37, of 72 W. Main St., by half — to $150,000 cash or $300,000 bond.

“I asked the judge to consider probationary release because she’s indigent,” attorney Brian D. Pilatzke said. “To her, there is no difference between $150,000 or $300,000. She can’t make either amount.”

Ms. Zeller has been held in St. Lawrence County jail since May 2. She is charged with two counts of second-degree grand larceny, two counts of third-degree grand larceny and one count of first-degree scheme to defraud.

Three related charges were dismissed in September.
