COLLEGE BASKETBALL Jefferson men, women suffer overtime losses

Darius Ward contributed 21 points, including nine in overtime, to help power Fulton-Montgomery Community College to a 90-86 Region 3 victory over host Jefferson CC in men’s basketball on Sunday.

Khaleeq Baum pitched in with 13 points, and Marquis Edwards added 12 points for the Raiders.

Jagger Freeman posted a game-high 26 points, while Dustin Pond scored 16 for Jefferson. Samuel Widrick connected on four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points, and Kenny Thomas added 10 points for the Cannoneers (3-4).

Earlier, Kassandra Flowers sank a 3-pointer with one second remaining to send the game into overtime, and the Fulton-Montgomery Community College women’s basketball team captured a 95-84 double-overtime victory over host Jefferson CC.

Flowers finished with 21 points, including four 3-pointers, and Monae Abrams supplied 25 points for the Raiders (5-2 overall, 4-1 region).

Alyssa Crosby poured in a game-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for JCC. Jasmine Canady finished with 25 points, seven assists and eight rebounds, and Amanda Roberts scored 16 points for the Cannoneers (5-2).
