The search for a missing MQ-9 Reaper drone in Lake Ontario will continue with active duty Air Force and Navy personnel, as the New York Air National Guard suspended its efforts Saturday.
Members of the 174th Attack Wing, which operated the aircraft, have searched the lakes shoreline for debris since it crashed Nov. 12. The unit asked the public to contact them at the wings Emergency Operations Center at 315-233-2257 if debris is seen. They said the debris is not hazardous, but should be handled cautiously.
The cause of the crash is under review by a pair of Air Force boards. A group of Navy personnel from Virginia arrived in Oswego on Wednesday to prepare for their own search and recovery efforts.
The multi-million dollar aircraft crashed about 35 miles from Fort Drums Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield, where its flight started.
