Police are still investigating an accident that happened Friday night that resulted in Ellison B. Price, 42, of 11271 Route 11, North Lawrence, being charged by state police with driving while intoxicated after he crashed his Chevy Trail Blazer on Foster Road in Lawrenceville.
Police said Mr. Prices coworker Heather M. Brown, DeKalb Junction, is the owner of the vehicle. She told police that she and Mr. Price were working on a deal to sell the car before he took it and crashed it Friday night.
Tri-Town Rescue Squad took Mr. Price and his son Bryan Price, 21, same address, who was a passenger, to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, and Massena Memorial Hospital late Friday.
Police said Ellison Price suffered cuts on his left arm and face while Bryan Price suffered cuts and bruises on his right arm, shoulder and face.
Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Chief John H. LaShomb said the vehicle veered across the oncoming lane and down into a ravine, where it traveled another 40 to 50 yards, overturning several times before it struck a wire attached to a utility pole, snapping the pole in half and halting the vehicle.
Chief LaShomb said that had it not been for that guide wire stopping the vehicle, it would have been submerged in the Deer River.
Ellison Price is scheduled to appear in Lawrence Town Court.
His blood alcohol content was not available.
