North country governmental agencies will benefit from a settlement announced by Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman under which CA, Inc. will pay $11 million to New York, seven other states, the District of Columbia and the federal government.

The settlement resolves claims that CA, Islandia, N.Y., formerly known as Computer Associates, schemed to double-charge government customers for computer software maintenance and service plans it sold from 2001 to 2009.

Among those receiving money are St. Lawrence County, $4,960.95; Franklin-Essex-Hamilton Board of Cooperative Educational Services, $1,860.35; Franklin County, $930.18; Edward-Knox Central School, $465.09; the city of Watertown, $310.06; Potsdam Central School, $310.06; and St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES, Gouverneur Central School, Malone Central School, Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, and Watertown Housing Authority, each to receive $155.03.
