In just under two weeks, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m., the 3rd Annual Lion’s Club Holiday Light Up The Night Parade featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus will make its way down State Street in Ogdensburg.

The event is sponsored by the Lisbon and Ogdensburg Lions Clubs in conjunction with the city of Ogdensburg, and will kick off the holiday season in the city.

The festivities begin at 5 p.m. at City Hall, with local singer Amy Rivera of Waddington entertaining the crowd outside with Christmas carols, a sing-along with members of the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Chorus, and the Seaway Valley Prevention Council will begin serving hot chocolate to parade goers. At 6 p.m. the parade kicks off from the Edgar A. Newell II Memorial Dome parking lot at Ogdensburg Free Academy and will run to City Hall.

Santa’s sleigh will be led by hundreds of volunteers, thousands of Christmas lights, parade marchers, decorated floats, lighted vehicles of all kinds, police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks. The nearly one hundred units filled with brilliant lights, cheering marchers, and smiling faces, are sure crowd pleasers for young and young at heart.

Once Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at City Hall, the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place, and the holiday royalty will be led into City Hall where they will greet children. Walgreens of Ogdensburg will be taking pictures of children’s visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Topping off the event, Pro Musica will entertain Santa’s visitors singing seasonal favorites inside City Hall.

There’s still time to place an entry in the parade. Stop by or contact Kimro’s Medicine Place on State Street or call Kathy Bouchard at 393-3540 for more information.
