The town of Hounsfield tax rate will remain at $1.28 per $1,000 of assessed value in the new 2014 budget.
For a property assessed at $75,000, the tax bill will remain at $96.
The levy, or amount to be raised by property taxes, stands at $418,696, a less than 1 percent decrease from the $419,622 in last years budget.
Supervisor Timothy W. Scee said he was encouraged by the Town Councils ability to keep the property tax rate steady each of his years in office.
I hope that town residents will be pleased, he said.
Among the big costs was the towns contribution to the state retirment system, which rose from $80,000 in 2013 to $107,000 in the new budget.
Mr. Scee described the system contribution as an unfunded mandate.
The supervisor said there were no major equipment purchases budgeted for the new year, as the town determines a rotation to replace equipment. The only equipment purchases were of a new lawn mower and an air compressor.
A public hearing on the budget will be held at 7 p.m. today. It will be followed immediately by the Town Councils monthly meeting.
