THERESA — A Theresa woman crashed her vehicle into a glass door at the front of the Theresa Fire Department, where residents were voting, Tuesday afternoon.

Fire Chief Mark S. Savage said a rear entrance was opened and voting continued.

The driver, who was not identified, had minor back pain because of the crash, the chief said. It happened about 4 p.m. at the firehouse at 400 Mill St., where the woman had gone to vote.

The large glass door was hit hard enough to knock it out of its foundation.

“She had problems with the brakes and ran into the main entrance that leads to the bingo hall, where people are voting,” Mr. Savage said Tuesday.

The front entrance will be closed for a couple of days, and Thursday night bingo at the hall has been canceled, Mr. Savage said.

Insurance is expected to cover the cost of replacing the door, he said.
