MASSENA — Francesco A. Marino, 38, of 5 King St. was charged by Massena Village Police with criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree harassment, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief for preventing a 911 call following a domestic dispute that happened just before noon Sunday.

Police said Mr. Marino was arguing with his wife Ann-Marie when their oldest son, a minor, tried to step in and break it up. Mr. Marino allegedly pushed the son to the floor and started choking him.

Police said Mrs. Marino’s mother Debra Hart, who lives across the street from them, came over to try to assist, but Mr. Marino knocked her to the floor as well.

Police said Mrs. Marino tried to call 911, but Mr. Marino unplugged the phone.

She then went across the street to her mother’s house to call.

Police said the entire incident took place in front of their younger son who is 5 years old.

Mr. Marino was transported to the St. Lawrence Correctional jail, Canton, and held on $10,000 bail.
