POTSDAM - The Potsdam Public Library’s public computer center will be instituting some changes in its operation beginning the week of Nov. 11.

To facilitate efficient and customized help with technology-related questions and techniques, assistance will now be by scheduled appointment only. If you need help using the internet, windows programs, Apple products, your tablet, or your phone, contact the computer center by calling the Potsdam Library (315-265-7230) and asking to be connected to the computer center.

If the phone is not being answered when you call, please leave a message including your name and phone number, and your call will be returned. You will be given an appointment to meet, individually, with an instructor who will address your specific question or interest. The computer center is located in the basement below the Potsdam Library and can be contacted by email; the address is pcc@potsdamlibrary.org.

Do you want to be able to send and receive email? Would you like to use Skype to visit with distant family members? Are you looking for a job and wonder how to go about doing an online job search? Do you have a new phone and want to use all its apps but don’t know how?

The computer center is a free service and the friendly staff is waiting for your call. Computer use is available, even if you don’t need help. In addition, the center’s multi-purpose room can be reserved for meetings of groups that would benefit from having internet access during meetings, as well as small not- for- profit groups that just need a quiet space to get together to conduct their meetings. Video conferencing capability is also offered by the computer center.

The current computer center’s director, Rene Austin, will leave her position early in November to do full-time graduate work at Florida State University and the new coordinator will be Bobby Gordon. Stop in at the center to chat with Bobby about your interests re: computers and related technology, but remember to make an appointment as she is not in the center at all times.

If you have any questions about the public computer center, call 315-265-7230 and ask for the computer center, or email them at pcc.potsdamlibrary.org.
