Tree Watertown, the citys Street Tree Advisory Board, will conduct its 12th annual fall tree planting project this morning at Ohio Elementary School.
Starting at 9 a.m., the tree committee will plant 10 trees to beautify the school grounds and increase tree canopy. The Northern New York Community Foundation awarded the city a $2,500 grant from the Carolyn Whitney Tree Planting Fund for the purchase of the trees.
Volunteers from the master gardener program at Cornell Cooperative Extension and parents and staff from Ohio Elementary School will be there to help. Crews from the city Department of Public Works dug holes at the school Friday.
On Friday, All Seasons Landscaping and Garden Center planted 15 trees in various locations.
The fall event supplements spring tree planting efforts in Watertown.
