MASSENA Massena High School was locked down for about 12 minutes Thursday afternoon for what Superintendent William W. Crist described as an internal situation.
Principal Patrick J. Farrand felt it was important to keep students out of the hallways, said Mr. Crist, who did not elaborate on what happened. It was a situation where the principal felt it would be helpful for students to be in their classrooms. It was about a 12-minute lockdown.
Massena Police Department responded, but it wasnt anything where students were in an imminent threat of danger, the superintendent said.
It was the second incident at the school this week. On Tuesday several students were brought to Massena Memorial Hospital after taking the prescription drug Xanax, Police Chief Timmy J. Currier said.
There were concerns medically involving four or five students, he said.
