CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators agreed Monday to contract with Dashnaw’s Town Budget Services for management consulting of the Highway Department during the search for a replacement for Toby W. Bogart, who resigned to take a job as an engineer with the New York Power Authority.

William E. Dashnaw was county highway superintendent before Mr. Bogart was appointed in 2011.

Mr. Dashnaw’s business will be paid $10,000 per month.

The board also created a temporary deputy highway superintendent position during the search but did not name anyone yet to the job.

Legislator Donald A. Peck, R-Gouverneur, will head a committee that looks at combining the highway superintendent’s job with that of buildings and grounds before embarking on a search.
