The annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer north country walk will take place at 10 a.m. today at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds, 970 Coffeen St.
Funds raised will be used toward the American Cancer Societys research, education and outreach programs, advocacy and patient services.
As of Thursday, 44 teams and 264 participants have raised $15,633.87, but tens of thousands of dollars will come in today, and some money even trickles in after the event.
Last year, about 1,000 participants raised $80,000 for the American Cancer Society.
