Grand Island man charged in Leandra’s Law arrest

HAILESBORO — A Grand Island man is was jailed Sunday after a reckless driver report lead to a Leandra’s law arrest Sunday.

State police charged Mark E. Dlugokinski, 42, after responding to a report of a reckless driving on Route 11 in the town of DeKalb. They said Dlugokinski, who had his 10-year-old son in the car, had a blood alcohol content 0.23 percent, nearly three times the 0.08 percent considered proof of intoxication. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

Dlugokinski was charged with Leandra’s law aggravated DWI for having a passenger less than 16 years old. He also was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle on a public highway.

He was arraigned in Fowler Town Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $3,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. The child was turned over to his mother. Dlugokinski was released after posting bail.
