ALEXANDRIA BAY — Heart Island’s Boldt Castle and its yacht house across the St. Lawrence River on Wellesley Island saw a roughly 2.3 percent drop in visits compared with last year, according to operators of the popular Thousand Islands attraction.

The yacht house currently is closed for the season but the castle remains open until 5:30 p.m. today.

Boldt facilities’ owner, the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, reported that 186,320 people visited the castle and yacht house between May 11 and Oct. 14, which is 4,450 fewer admissions than in the same period last year.

Ticket revenues dropped by 1.7 percent — or $22,212 from $1,261,315 last year to $1,239,103 — and gift sales were down as well.
