PITTSFORD - Junior Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) shot a one-under 71, the third best single-round score of the weekend, to finish in a tie for fourth overall at the Nazareth Fall Invitational as the Clarkson University Golf team closed out the fall season on Monday at the Monroe Golf Club.
The Golden Knights finished in second place, with 618 strokes, among six teams at the last tournament of 2013. Clarkson will return in the spring with a warm up tournament before facing the University of Rochester in match play in the Liberty League Championships in late-April.
Four Golden Knights shot 77 on Sunday during the first day of the tournament, but the team became unclustered on the second day, as Cline was one of only three golfers among 42 to tame the course and shoot below par. Cline finished with a two-day score of 148, four-over par for the event and tied for fourth. Sophomore Evan Cody (Malta, NY) scored 79 on the second day as scores in general jumped considerably. Cody finished with 156 in the two-day event, placing in 11th overall. Sophomore Matt Blair (South Glens Falls, NY) and senior Rob Wood (Westford, VT) matched scores on both days (77-81) to each record 158, tying for 14th overall at the event. Sophomore Scott Henning (Vienna, VA) recovered from an 85 on the opening day with 79 on the second day to score 164 and finish 25th overall.
