POTSDAM - A new location for laboratory specimen collection has opened as part of Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Helen Snell Cheel Medical Campus at 49 Lawrence Avenue in Potsdam.

The location was planned to serve the practices on the campus as well as to function as a stand-alone laboratory collection site for any patient needing a laboratory test. It is staffed by a certified phlebotomist and follows all quality protocols of the main hospital laboratory.

Except for drug testing, which must still be performed on the hospital’s main campus by regulation, and glucose tolerance testing, which must be performed in close proximity to the emergency department, the new laboratory offers comprehensive service.

As of Monday, the Helen Sneel Cheel Medical Campus laboratory is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.Patients may walk in without an appointment, or to schedule an appointment patients may call 1-800-227-1074.

As part of outreach to the communities it serves, Canton-Potsdam Hospital maintains laboratory services at several other locations: in the Brasher Falls Community Health Center Wednesdays from 7 a. m. to 3:30 p.m., at the E. J. Noble Building in Canton Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed over the noon hour), and at the Norfolk Community Health Center on Tuesdays from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a. m. Laboratory hours at the main hospital campus of CPH are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
