POTSDAM - A new location for laboratory specimen collection has opened as part of Canton-Potsdam Hospitals Helen Snell Cheel Medical Campus at 49 Lawrence Avenue in Potsdam.
The location was planned to serve the practices on the campus as well as to function as a stand-alone laboratory collection site for any patient needing a laboratory test. It is staffed by a certified phlebotomist and follows all quality protocols of the main hospital laboratory.
Except for drug testing, which must still be performed on the hospitals main campus by regulation, and glucose tolerance testing, which must be performed in close proximity to the emergency department, the new laboratory offers comprehensive service.
As of Monday, the Helen Sneel Cheel Medical Campus laboratory is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.Patients may walk in without an appointment, or to schedule an appointment patients may call 1-800-227-1074.
