CARTHAGE — There is still time to get in on the decorating contest in recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting downtown Carthage and West Carthage businesses to “Paint Downtown Pink.” There also will be a judging for private homes that are decorated.

Since homeowners have approached chamber Executive Director Lori A. Borland, the board of directors decided at Wednesday’s meeting to expand the contest to include private homes.

Prizes will include a one-year chamber membership or renewal, a one-year subscription to the Carthage Republican Tribune and a one-year subscription to NNY Business magazine.

Those interested in being judged can call the Chamber of Commerce at 493-3590 with their name or the name of the business, address and contact number by today.

Winners of the contest will be announced at the Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon sponsored by Carthage Area Hospital. The luncheon is set for at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Elks Lodge, 15 Fulton St. Call 493-0114 for more information or reservations.
